My years at Tappan Zee have always been a treasured memory. After living one block from the school for about a year, my heart was broken when my family moved to Palisades. The following school year I had the choice of attending Nyack H.S. and made the choice to do that because of the art program. It only took about two days to wreck my life. I’ll never forget the trip back to Mr. Barone’s office to plead for the chance to return to T.Z. He was so understanding and allowed me to start back that day – my world was whole again! I treasure those four years and all the friendships. The size of the school created a closeness that is hard to beat

After T.Z. I headed for the Univ. of Chattanooga for 6 weeks , got terribly homesick and went back home to Palisades. End of art career, although I did take a few art courses at Rockland Community College. I worked in the office at C.C.C. in Piermont for 2 years, married a soldier and we were sent to Frankfurt, Germany for 2 years. When we returned I was hired by the art director at Dexter Press in West Nyack and was able to use a little of my art background. After about 3 years, I left there for a secretary position at Orange and Rockland Utilities and was there for many years. We lived in West Nyack, then Nyack, then Congers. Our son Tom was born in 1970. We moved to my present location of Nicholasville, Ky. in 1976 when my husband took another job. I started working in the school system as a secretary/bookkeeper and have just retired after 28 years. I have only been back to Rockland County one time since we moved here, but could get inspired if somehow we could come up with a school wide T.Z. reunion.

I was divorced in 1982 and have been living the "happy single" life for the past 20 years. My son lives here and I have a two year old grandson. I hope to get on the road and do a little traveling, now that I am not working. I love the beach and have spent a lot of time all along the Gulf Coast. Another favorite spot is St. Simons, Georgia. My parents lived in Venice, Florida for several years after their retirement, so I spent every week that I could squeeze out of my work schedule roaming their beaches.

I would love to hear from you all. I really miss my computer at work and hope to have one of my own, one of these days. But meanwhile I’m using a friends e-mail (across the street from me) please feel free to reach me at this address gokodi@qx.net and put my name in the subject line.
