I married David Sweeney (from Tappan - Nyack High School) when I was 19. He was an officer in the Air Force. We lived in upper Michigan at Kincheloe AFB. Our first son was born there - James Michael Sweeney III. Left there to move to Sacramento, California (Mather AFB). Our second son was born there - David J. Sweeney Jr.. Next was a short stay in Montgomery, Alabama. Then to Grand Forks AFB, No. Dakota (Grand Forks AFB); then David went to Vietnam - The boys and I moved back to Blauvelt, NY while he was gone. Next was Omaha, Nebraska (Offutt AFB). Then in 1978 David retired and we moved to Bayonet Point, Florida. Two years later, we divorced. I then married a retired Deputy Sheriff/Detective - Monte Johns. We moved to Ft. Lauderdale and then back to north Florida - Lecanto - (about 90 miles northwest of Orlando). After 21 of the happiest years of my life, I lost Monte to bone cancer in July 2003.
Jobs: Went to Berkeley Secretarial School in White Plains, NY Worked as a school secretary for years. Worked as the manager of the Card Cage (cards and gifts) for 7 years; then was promoted to Supervisor of Florida's east coast. Quit when the chain for sold and went back to secretarial work. Presently I work for the Citrus County Housing Division as a Senior Secretary and love it. I will retire in 3 years.
Son Jim: has two daughters - Jim is a Senior Vice President of the Bank of America and lives in Tampa, Florida
Son Dave: has two sons - Dave is the Art Director for the Sun Sentinel and lives in Ft. Lauderdale.
I'm going on an Alaskan cruise with my youngest son and his family in June of this year.
My sister Carol Kopf died two years ago of a catherization gone wrong.
I lost my Mom 10 years ago and just lost my Dad a month ago. 2003 was a horrific year. My husband, my mother in law and then my Dad all within 5 months.
