Life After Tappan Zee

Matthew J. Rotelli
Mathematics, JHS Golf Coach

My name is Matt Rotelli. I was hired as the physical education teacher and coach at Tappan Zee high school (known to all who worked there as, Piermont High School) in September of 1946. I coached football and baseball for two years, and then went on to my true profession, the teaching of mathematics. I left Tappan Zee in 1959, which was the year the high school moved to Orange town. I will always remember the years I spent in Piermont. It was a close-knit family; everyone was friendly, enthusiastic about the school, cooperative, and helpful in every way.

I would have liked to mention some of the students and teachers but I am afraid I might forget someone. However, I must mention our principal, Tony Barone, whom I kept in touch with long after I left Piermont. He was a great administrator and friend.

I will always keep Piermont High School in my heart.
