Obituary

Mrs. Gwendolyn Allen Ivey, of Winston-Salem, NC, 70, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2007, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born Sept. 23, 1936, in Nyack, NY, to the late Philip and Ruth Gibson Allen. She was a loving wife, mother and "Grammy." Mrs. Ivey was a member of Ardmore United Methodist Church, where she was a choir member, youth leader and pre-school teacher. She enjoyed painting and loved animals and children. She worked for 18 years at a summer camp sponsored by the Christian Herald magazine for the under-privileged children of New York City. Mrs. Ivey worked at Old Salem as bakery manager until her retirement. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Chuck Ivey of the home; a son Phil Ivey and wife Sonja; a granddaughter, Savannah Ivey; a loving in-law, Callie Carter. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m., at the First Reformed Church of Piermont, 361 Ferdon Avenue, Piermont. Burial will follow at Rockland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, 1 to 2 p.m. at the First Reformed Church of Piermont.
