Obituary

George Joseph Coffin lost his battle with cancer on November 7, 2006 in Delhi, NY. He was born on April 9, 1956 in Teaneck, NJ to Arlene Stewart and John Phillip Coffin. George grew up fifth generation in Tappan and attended Tappan Zee High School. He then joined the US Navy in 1970's, serving on the USS America. He belonged to the Laborers' Union Local No. 754, followed by owning his own landscaping business. He had to leave his job as machine mechanic for the Sharp Corp., and his home in Dingman's Ferry, PA due to his illness in 2005. He spent his spare time fishing, kyacking, hiking and riding in the 100MS Bike Ride for three years prior to his illness. George leaves behind a son Josuha and wife Lauren, and daughter Amanda whom he loved dearly, all from Churchville, MD; mother Arlene Kovalsky and her husband Vincent of Andes, NY; father Phillip Coffin and his wife Joan of Berkshire, NY; sister Sherrie Lorenzini of Holiday, FL; brother Thomas and his wife Theresa of Walton, NY; step-brothers Douglas Kovalsky and his wife Kathy of Pawling, NY and Donald Kovalsky and his wife Carrie of Garnerville, NY; godfather, friend and uncle Bob Stewart and wife Jennie of Queensbury, NY; as well as other step-siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was always described by his co-workers, friends and family as a 'A Good Guy.' He will be truly missed. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, 10 am, at the Moritz FuneralHome in Tappan with burial to follow at Tappan Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
