Obituary

Marijean Giannino, formerly of Blauvelt and Walden, New York, died on Monday, October 23, 2006, at her home in Berkeley, California. She was 60. The daughter of the late Francis Giannino and Ruth Hitchens Giannino, she was born on May 10, 1946, in Auburn, NY. She spent the first half of her life in New York and the last half of her life in the San Francisco Bay area. She graduated from Tappan Zee High School in 1964. Marijean's friends from high school remained close throughout her life. She received her undergraduate degree from SUNY Oneonta in Elementary Education. She taught fifth grade in Wappingers Falls for four years. She relocated permanently to San Francisco and, later, Berkeley, California. She received a Masters Degree in Education from the San Francisco State University. She worked as a market analyst and sales forecaster for Mervyn's-Target Department stores. During her time in California, she traveled extensively. Her loyalties to family and friends were bi-coastal. She often visited friends and family back East, while living our West. Her "love affair" with the San Francisco Bay Area, and sailing, were shared with everyone. She is survived by her life partner, Richard Coleman of Berkeley, California; her four siblings: sister Barbara Hunt and her husband Robert (Lee), Jr. of South Nyack; brother Frank Giannino and his wife Michele of Johnson; sister Nancy Forster and her husband Dean of Walker Valley; and brother John Giannino and his wife Lisa of Pine Bush; twelve nephews and nieces and stepmother Josephine Salva of Florida. She was much loved and will be dearly missed by all. The family is requesting a donation to breast cancer awareness (www.changethestatistic s.com) be made in lieu of flowers.
