Mr. Christian G. Hofsommer, Jr., a lifelong resident of Tappan, died peacefully at home on May 11, 2006 with his family at his side. He was born on February 20, 1941 at Nyack Hospital to Christian G. and Anna C. Lucassen Hofsommer. Mr. Hofsommer graduated Tappan Zee High School in Piermont in 1958 and served in the US Navy from 1962 to 1968. In May of 2005, he retired as a bus driver from the South Orangetown School District. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (nee Kuhn); his son, Christian G. Hofsommer III; his sisters-in-law, Lillian Stuercke and her husband John and Joan Lenhart and her husband Charles; and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, 11 am, at the Moritz Funeral Home in Tappan with burial to follow at Tappan Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Saturday and Sunday, 2 to4 and 7 to9 pm.
