Obituary

Mary B. Hardy, 71, passed away on April 20, 2005 in Deerfield Beach, FL. Mary had previously been a longtime resident of Piermont, until she moved to Florida with her partner of 20 years, William Goswick. Mary was born in Nyack on August 23, 1933. She graduated from Tappan Zee High School. Before retiring, Mary was the Clerk Treasurer of the Village of Piermont for 23 years. She was a longtime Chairman of the Piermont Democratic Committee as well as a member of the Orangetown Democratic Committee. She was a past president of the Piermont Rotary Club and past Grand Regent f the Court Saint Ann's Catholic Daughters of Saint John's Church and a former member o Piermont Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her beloved partner, William Goswick, she is survived by her four children: Patricia Ables, Donald and wife, Bernadette; Dennis and wife, Wania, and Donna Mary Hardy. Her grandchildren: Jerry Ables and wife, Michele; Donald Ables, Delia Hardy, Victoria Hardy, Paul Silva and Scott Silva, also survive her. Her grandson, James Ables, died on July 31, 2004. She also has two special great-grandchildren: Shawn Ables and Patricia Ables. She is survived by her sister, Delores Timpson and two nieces: Dawn Mitchell and Coleen Duffy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 25 at 11 am at Saint John's R.C. Church in Piermont, with burial to follow at Rockland Cemetery in Sparkill. Visiting hours are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 pm, at the Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack.
