Elizabeth O. Tygert, "Betty" as she was known by all who loved her, passed away at the age of 70 on Saturday, May 24, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital, Knoxville, TN. The daughter of the late, Philip and Marjorie Ostrom Sr, was born on May 13, 1938 in Piermont, NY. She is survived by her brother, Philip Ostrom Jr of Lake George, NY and predeceased by her sister, Marjorie Lynch of Fort Montgomery, NY. Betty grew up in Orangeburg, NY where she met and married her husband F. Scott Tygert, a sailor in the U.S. Navy, on March 9, 1958. Beginning their lives together in Newport, RI, they moved on to live in the New York towns of Blauvelt, Stony Point, and Cornwall as well as Goffstown, New Hampshire. After she retired as a guidance secretary in the Manchester School District in New Hampshire, Betty and her husband moved down south to Kodak, TN where she enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting and reading. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, F. Scott Tygert of Kodak, TN; daughter, Lorraine Lucera and husband, Dominick of New Windsor, NY; son, Wayne Tygert and wife, Kelly of Snohomish, WA; and grandchildren, Nicole and Mark Lucera, Matthew, Elizabeth and Christopher Tygert. Family and Friends may call on Thursday, May 29, 2008 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Hannemann Funeral Home, 88 S. Broadway Nyack, NY. Funeral services to be held on Friday, May 30, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Hannemann Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Tappan Reformed Church Cemetery.
