Obituary

Arthur Russell "Artie" Schupner, 61, of Shenandoah, VA, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2010, at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital. Mr. Schupner was born December 14, 1948 in Nyack, a son of the late Edward Joseph and Lillian Edwards Schupner. Artie was a Mail Carrier for the U.S. Post Office for 33 years, prior to his retirement in 2003. He was a member of Branch #2550 of the National Assn. of Letter Carriers; the Loyal Order of the Moose #2267 in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie #3700 in Oakland Park, FL. On February 7, 1987, he married Carol Roberson Schupner who survives. In addition to his wife, Artie is survived by a son, Arthur Schupner Jr. and his wife, Cassandra of Tea, SD; two daughters, Tara LaGuerre and her husband, Jay of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Michelle Schupner of Tamarac, FL; six brothers: Charles Edwards of West Fulton, Edward Schupner of Montgomery, Lawrence Schupner of Chester, Kenneth Schupner of Middletown, John Schupner of Congers, and Ronald "Ron" Schupner of Shenandoah, VA; one sister, Diane Wancho of Middletown; three grandchildren: Antonio Heredia, Avery Schupner, and Brynn Schupner; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flynn Funeral & Cremation Memorial Center, 3 Hudson St., Chester; 845-469-2525. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, February 21, at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Shenandoah, VA, with Pastors Mark Briehl and Patty Covington officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church.
