Obituary

Ruth Swann Savage, 74 of Nyack, NY, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2001 at Nyack Hospital. Ruth was born on December 26, 1926 in Suffern, NY to the late Chester and Bertha Swann. She lived in the Centenary section of New City and attended Street School. After moving to Piermont she attended Tappan Zee Grammar and High School. Sister Savage was active in her beloved church, St. Charles AME Zion in Sparkill, NY. She was President of the Sr. Usher Board, and a member of the WHO&M Missionary Society. She was a member of the Elks Rockland County Temple, 261 IBPOE of Nyack, NY. Fraternal Services will be held at 8pm on Thursday evening at St. Charles AME Zion Church. Ruth retired from Rockland Children's Psychiatric Hospital with 35 years of service. Ruth is survived by her children Sheila Savage of Piermont, NY, Keith Savage of Heidleberg, Germany, Lydia Sweigart of Fort Colline, CO, and Shirley Donadelle of Hillcrest, NY, and seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a brother Everett Swann, three sisters Helen Smith, Bertha Carl, and Marjorie Swann. She was predeceased by her husband Leroy, and two daughters, one sister and nine brothers. Friends may visit from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at the St. Charles AME Zion Church, Valentine Ave, Sparkill, NY on Thursday, November 1, 2001. Services will be held at 11am on Friday, November 2, 2001 at the Church. Burial will follow at Brick Church Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY.
