Obituary

A Memorial Mass for Ernest A. Tebo, 89, of Port Orange, will be celebrated 8:30 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2007 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Port Orange. The family will receive friends at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home Sunday 6-8 p.m. Mr. Tebo was born on November 26, 1917 in upstate New York and died on May 2, 2007 at the Hospice Care Center in Port Orange. Mr. Tebo was a retired educator and a veteran with the Army Air Forces Band during WWII. He earned a B.S. degree in music and elementary education from Potsdam State Teachers College in Potsdam, NY and a M.A. degree in Administration from New York University. He began his career as a Music and Language Arts teacher in upstate New York and his 24 yr. career in education in Rockland County began in 1947. After 11 years as a K-12 music teacher, Mr. Tebo was named Principal of the Sparkill Elementary School; later he was named principal of the Tappan Zee Elementary School. He has been a Florida Resident since 1978. Mr. Tebo was married for 63 years to Anna Timko Tebo, who died in February 2007. He is survived by four children: Barbara Layton, Adele Novick, Susan Tebo-Monroe and Lawrence Tebo. He is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Volusia Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Dr., Port Orange or the St. Vincent DePaul Society of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange.
