Obituary

Robert Vickerman, a former Palisades resident who underwent numerous surgeries and experimental treatments to help find a cure for his rare brain tumor, lost his battle with cancer at home on Tuesday. He was 35. Vickerman, an accomplished writer, was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), the most aggressive of all brain cancers, in November of 1999. Vickerman grew up in Palisades and graduated from Tappan Zee High School in 1985. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Boston with an American Studies degree. He lived in Astoria, Queens. He leaves behind his parents, Carole and Richard, of Palisades; his siblings: Lynn, Melinda and Steven and his partner, Michael Wong.
